Thomas Carbou est un explorateur sonore. Avec comme trame narrative l’improvisation et l’envie de surprendre, le guitariste, compositeur, arrangeur, percussionniste et échantillonneur dévoile une musique audacieuse et agréablement complexe où la liberté est reine.

Flirtant par moments avec des éléments de la musique traditionnelle, du folk et de la chanson, son univers qui se décrit pourtant comme électro-jazz se déploie sans résistance, hors du temps et des barrières.

Dr. Lex French: Jazz Trumpeter and Composer
New Zealand-Canadian jazz trumpet player Lex French has been hailed by Radio Canada jazz critic Stanley Pean as “an extraordinary trumpeter”. He is fast becoming a bright star
on the Canadian jazz scene, and is highly in demand after relocating to Montreal in 2016. He is also a sought-after composer and arranger, and has recently been commissioned to write works for string quartet, jazz orchestra, and massed trombone choir.
Lex has recorded or performed with international artists including Bennie Maupin, Aaron Parks, Diana Krall, Patti Austin, Kurt Elling, Paul Anka, Arturo Sandoval, Nikki Yanofsky, Cheyenne Jackson (30 Rock), Andy Bell (Erasure), Bob Mintzer, Bill Cunliffe, Eric Marienthal, Alex Sipiagin, Jean-Michel Pilc, Ryan Truesdell, James Muller, Luis Bonilla, Dick Oatts, Joe LaBarbera, Clay Jenkins, Jim Pugh, Steve Houghton, Jeff Driskill, John Fedchock, Tom Warrington, Larry Koonse, Chris Cain, Bob Sheppard, Fima Ephron, Bill Ware, and Esdra 'Nenem' Ferreira. He has also released two albums as a leader: The Cut (2014) and Prevent the Future (2017) and Live at the Rogue and Vagabond (2020). In addition he is a he has won the Recorded Music of New Zealand Award for jazz album of the year twice, in 2009 and 2021.
In Montreal, his most recent engagements have included playing with the The National Jazz Orchestra of Montreal (ONJM), Christine Jensen Quintet, the Jim Doxas Quartet, Joel Miller's Dream Cassette, the Yannick Rieu Nonet, The Emie Roussel Trio, Mark Nelson’s Sympathetic Frequencies, the Eric Harding Quartet and CODE Quartet.
He has studied with Ingrid Jensen, Dave Douglas, John Hollenbeck, Kevin Dean, Jocelyn Couture and Charley Davis, and holds a Doctoral of Music degree in Jazz from McGill University.

A saxophonist, composer and arranger, Jean-Pierre Zanella is very much in demand on Quebec’s music scene. He got his Master’s degree in Jazz at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY in 1982. Zanella has developed strong ties and also recorded with Brazilian artists such as Marcos Valle, Altay Veloso, Boca Livre and pianist Marcos Ariel. He has received the honorific Ordem do Rio Branco bestowed by the Brazilian government, and recorded with several instrumentalists from Canada and the US. He has eight solo albums to his credit: Caminho, nominated for a Félix (1994); Mystic Infancy, which received the Opus Award for best jazz album in 1998; Puzzle City, which also won the Opus Award for best jazz album in 1999 in addition to being a Juno nominee; Mother Tree (2002) was also nominated for a Juno and a Félix and won a Opus; 2006 release Villa-Lobos & Jobim was nominated twice as best jazz album, in the Interpretation and Best Arranger categories; and Infinito (2010) was nominated for a Félix in the jazz creation category. Marianne Trudel is a multi-talented pianist, composer, improvisor, and arranger. At once energetic and passionate, her music cross-cuts a wide swath of musical interests. As a performer, she pursues an active career in a variety of settings ranging from solo performance to more intimate duos and trios, and larger groups as quintet, septet, Trifolia and large ensembles. She has played in Canada, United States, France, Spain, Germany, and Mexico. Recipient of the Prix Étoiles Galaxie de Radio-Canada (Montreal Jazz Festival 2007), Marianne Trudel has presented multiple artistic projects that not only bring her considerable skills to the fore but also her keen sense of creativity. She has shared the stage with, among others, in jazz and improvised music: Chucho Valdes, Mark Feldman, Evan Parker, Tony Malaby, René Lussier, Mark Dresser, Kenny Wheeler, Ingrid Jensen, Jon Wikan, Gerry Hemingway, William Parker, Mark Helias, Jean Derome, Karen Young, George Lewis, and Muhal Richard Abrams. In Chanson française and World / traditional music: Charles Aznavour, Lena Chamamyan, Farida, Juan Carlos Caceres and Laura Risk. She has composed and arranged for the radio of Radio-Canada, the American composers Orchestra (NYC), the ensemble OktoEcho, the Henri Mancini Institute Orchestra (Los Angeles, California), the McGill Jazz Orchestra, as well as scoring for short films. Her previous studies have included a Master in Ethnomusicology (Université de Montréal), a Bachelor in Jazz Performance (McGill University), and numerous workshops in North America and Europe.
