The Kalmunity Vibe Collective has
puttogether a special jazz project. Original compositions and
collective"live organic improv" are the points of departure. Elementsof
dub /reggae, funk, hip-hop, afro-beat and r'n'b are integrated into a
jazzconception, allowing the musicians to reflect their experiences
(musicaland otherwise) in the moment. Their performances blur the line
betweenimprovisation and real-time composition, making each set a
uniqueexperience.

Alex Bellegarde’s dynamic Tuesday jam session has become one of Montreal’s hippest weekly jazz events. The first set fires up with Bellegarde and his trio, playing host to a range of well known talents from the Montreal scene as well as musicians from out of town. The jam opens in the second set, to any jazz musician with the confidence to step up and play… there’s an unspoken rule though: “If you can’t keep up, you shouldn’t be on stage”. A great place to play and chill…. the jam continues on into the early hours!

Jamie Baum, New York flutist - composer - recording and touring artist - clinician, has worked with several renowned musicians. Listed in DownBeat Jazz Magazine Polls’ “Best Flutists” category every year since 1998 she has also received several grants as a composer. Baum was nominated as “Flutist of the Year” by the Jazz Journalists Association in their 2005 and 2006 annual jazz awards. An endorser and clinician for Altus Flutes, Jamie is an adjunct faculty member of the Manhattan School of Music and New School University jazz departments.

Pianist, composer, songwriter and arranger, Matt Herskowitz has
distinguished himself in several musical genres. As a pianist, he's
released several solo albums, most notably his recent release entitled
Matt Herskowitz Plays Gershwin, featuring his own solo piano
arrangements of Gershwin's Concerto in F and Cuban Overture, as well as
the great Rhapsody in Blue. A graduate of the Juilliard School in New
York and the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, Matt is
originally from Albany, New York, and has made Montréal his adopted
home of 9 years.
